Lemont is located in southern Centre County, 2 miles northeast of State College just off State Route 26. With a total of 1.27 square miles and a little over 2,300 people, Lemont is close to town and amenities while maintaining a small community feel. The Lemont Historic District houses many historic homes and businesses, including the John Thompson Coal Sheds and Granary, the last remaining wooden grain elevator in Pennsylvania.
Mount Nittany features prominently in the quiet town and Spring Creek flows through the middle. The Mount Nittany Conservancy is headquartered in Lemont, and the group dedicates itself to the preservation and enjoyment of Mount Nittany. The village is also home to the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania, a nonprofit organization that supports the visual arts in Centre County. For those who enjoy a mix of arts and nature, Lemont is the perfect spot.
Throughout the year, there is no shortage of things to do. In addition to activities such as a yearly plant sale, Strawberry Festival, weekly Farmers Markets, and Christmas market, there are wonderful restaurants and shops on the main street and even a brewery!
